about camilart

brush-painting-illustration-bw-detail-DSC00723Camilla Marstrand Golden, very much a New Yorker, was born in Denmark. After receiving her BFA in Design and Illustration from Designskolen Kolding (which was then named Kunsthåndværkerskolen i Kolding), she was fortunate to work for several years under the guidance and mentoring of acclaimed graphic artist Finn Nygaard. These were valuable years which taught her to approach projects with the whole spectrum of the mind and combine strict analytic thinking with unbounded creativity.

Camilla’s early illustrations appeared in the Danish Literary Magazine “Limbo“. She moved to New York in 1993, where she has created illustrations for H. Stern Jewelry, Bloomingdale’s Department Stores and The Ad Council, while also growing her graphic design business, camilart.

She was a finalist in “To Be Human,” the 2012 Aarhus International Poster Show.

Camilla’s passion for quality children’s literature propelled her to join a writers group so she can work complementary sides of a story; both writing & illustrating.

Today, she works with a wide range of both new and long-time clients, always maintaining good and respectful working relationships and with a certain fearlessness when it comes to new challenges to crack.
